CRU and Corning bring World Optical Fiber & Cable Conference to the US
After four successful editions, the World Optical Fiber & Cable Conference organized by the CRU Group will take place for the first time in the USA, namely in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 18-20, 2019.
Leaders of the telecommunications and optical fiber industries will gather at the Hilton Charlotte Center City hosted by Corning, the American multinational technology corporation specializing in high-tech glass, ceramics and advanced materials.
“As a global leader, Corning is delighted to facilitate discussions on the telecom market and technology leadership. We are pleased to collaborate with CRU on bringing this event to the United States, for the first time.” - Dr. Bernhard Deutsch Vice president and general manager Corning Optical Fiber and Cable.
The conference series has consistently attracted an audience of over 500 industry participants to the three-day event, packed with presentations from C-level speakers, thought-leaders and innovators. The 2018 conference was hosted by the Futong Group in Hangzhou, China.
Network executives, fiber optic producers, solution providers, and industry innovators from around the world will appreciate the conference for the excellent networking with hard-to-reach senior decision-makers, and also the opportunity to hear from leading industry experts.
The 2019 conference will also offer a lively exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and service solutions for the industry.
Delegates will hear insights from the world’s top network carriers and equipment companies on the densification and convergence trends in fiber networks, and what this means for the communication cable supply chain. Speakers confirmed include:
- Tara Mooar, Vice President, Global Engineering & System Performance, Verizon
- Adam Schieber, Assistant Vice President - Construction and Engineering, AT&T
- Kevin N. Smith, Vice President Technology Planning and Development, Verizon
- Ed Harstead, Lead Technologist, Chief Technology Officer, Fixed Networks Division, Nokia
- Bernhard Deutsch, Vice President and General Manager, Optical Fiber and Cable, Corning Incorporated
Plus CRU’s experts will tackle the key issues facing the optical fiber and cable markets.
“The US telecom market is at the forefront of 5G network deployment, gigabit-speed broadband services, high-density fiber deployments, and hyper-scale data-centre investments,” said Michael Finch, Head of CRU’s Wire and Cable Team.
“The amount of optical cable installed per year in the US has more than doubled from about 24 million fiber-km installed in 2010 to about 55 million fiber-km installed in 2018. This increase represents a CAGR of 11%, and the US market will grow at this rate again in 2019, making it one of the world’s fastest-growing markets,” he continued.
