South African Wire Association trains new exporters and business women
As part of the mandate to increase export of members products SAWA provides training to deserving incumbents with tuition to equip them to become part of the export fraternity. The South African Wire Association has trained more than 30 students through Emerging Exporter, and Women in Business programmes. The SAWA export training programme embraces the aim of the DTI to promote BEE and SMEE individuals and companies to contribute to the growth of SA exports of beneficiated products. The Graduates have been able to enter the export arena with confidence and professionalism with the knowledge gained through the intensive curriculum which covers all facets of export procedures, from market research, promotion and selling, booking of an order to receiving payment from abroad. The training also provides opportunities for students to participate at seminars, workshops and even attend DTI sponsored outward selling missions and local and international trade fairs. The 2 year course content, which is revised regularly to embrace latest trends and policies, is structured into First Year Certificate course and Second Year Diploma course. For 2014 SAWA has 8 first year and 4 second year students. These courses are free to students, being generously sponsored by the SAWA members.
