PROFILEMASTER® SPS by ZUMBACH, in-line profile measurement and monitoring systems

Following these principles, the company has designed the PROFILEMASTER SPS system, a device for in-line measuring contours and dimensions on any kind of profiles. Indeed, PROFILEMASTER is specifically designed to serve measurement, monitoring, and surface flaw detection under harsh environments of rolling mills for cold and hot steel rods (up to 1200 °C) and bars.

PROFILEMASTER systems are equipped with 4 to 8 laser/camera modules and can adapt to different measuring field sizes to cover products ranging from 5 mm (.2 in.) to 720 mm (28.3 in.). By combining the images of the individual cameras, it is possible to continuously measure the cross-section of a moving profile. An ergonomic graphical interface displays all the relevant information, such as width, height, angle, and radius, or other geometric quantities. Moreover, it is possible to directly import the nominal profile shape from CAD design files (DXF), for a simple device configuration. Last but not least, changes in speed and twist – within normal limits – doesn’t affect the measurement precision.
