Wire preheating: Zumbach’s secret recipe to extrusion

Wire preheating: Zumbach’s secret recipe to extrusion

Zumbach Electronic, a global leader in the manufacture of in-line measuring systems, is proud to announce the release of its new in-line induction wire preheater family.

Composed of different parts to better obtain extrusion results, the system is based on a brand-new smart induction power controller, and it ensures a stable and linear conductor heating to enhance both productivity and quality. This machinery includes a touch-PoE operator system, a material “recipe book” which can memorize recipes for 20 different materials, as well as temperature control and measurement equipment. These latter devices can check both ambient and wire temperatures.

The system is available in 3 models, with different heating power from 8 to 25 KW, wire diameter and line speed. Moreover, all the versions can be equipped with optional host interfaces.

To achieve the best performance, wire preheating processes can benefit from the temperature precise measurement AUTAC 300. Consisting of a non-contact sensor and a processor display unit, this device can check and regulate the temperature for applications with conductor preheaters or post-annealing re-heat stages. The machine is based on the convective heat flow principle and can measure temperatures from 10° C to 300° C on wires and cables with a diameter ranging from 0.2 to 7 mm. Factors such as color, emission, speed, material, and surface structure don’t influence the measurement. Besides, the slotted measuring head allows the wire to be changed without any interruption.
