Zumbach Electronic: enhancing quality assurance at ArcelorMittal Rodange plant

Zumbach Electronic AG was selected by ArcelorMittal Rodange as a trusted supplier for its product measurement.

At the Rodange plant, the imported blooms/billets are heated in an oven up to +/- 1100°C. The blooms and billets are then rolled to the desired profile, checked, and measured with the SPS 800-8K system before passing to the cooling table. Simultaneously, the system generates a report of each profile, saves the statistics and SPC reports, and automatically uploads them to the SteelDATA Manager software, where they are available via Zumbach SteelDATAViewer.

To enhance the quality of its finished products, Zumbach Electronic AG will provide its client another SPS 400-8K system for the finishing department, to ensure that every product is checked again before being shipped to the final customers. This machine will be installed at the end of 2023.

With PROFILEMASTER® SPS it is possible to see the complete contour of the product during the production process, at a product temperature of +/- 1000°C. This allows the rolling mill to be adjusted faster, without waiting for the product to be finished and cooled down, thus reducing the quantity of scrap and product variation.
