Next Generation Train, IABG involved in the German railway project

IABG has been recently involved in the German Next Generation Train (NGT) project. New concepts, methods, and technologies are being developed for a double-deck, ultra-high-speed, and lightweight train.

The German Aerospace Center has commissioned the company to develop a track roller test stand for the novel single-wheel chassis NGT. This innovative system lowers energy consumption, noise emissions, and wear while simultaneously increasing the usable space in the train. Finding the right combination between lightness, high rigidity, and accessibility represented a real challenge during the test rig construction.
In detail, IABG test bench enables easy qualitative functional testing of the sensors, actuators, and control and automation technology of the running gear (scale of 1:1). The German company implemented the project from June 2020 to January 2021.
