Processing copper, aluminum, and stainless steel tapes on the same cable shielding line
This news will certainly be appreciated by all those cable manufacturers producing high or extra-high-voltage cables who wish to get key processes like forming, welding, and extrusion from one single source.
The RH-W metal tape forming and welding line by Rosendahl includes a non-stop inline process for forming and welding HV or EHV cables with a corrugated or smooth profile. The welding electrodes may alternate, so while one is welding, the other one can be exchanged or maintained.
As the line does not have to be stopped, it ensures continuous production — a considerable advantage to increase productivity and competitiveness. Used in tandem with the compacting unit and the triple extruder group, the RH-W line can produce smooth aluminum sheaths of excellent quality.
A major benefit of this production line is that it is able to process copper, aluminum, stainless steel, and alloys. Basically, almost every cable that needs protective metal shielding can be manufactured on it. As regards the cable diameter, we’re talking about cables with a welding tube diameter of up to 200 mm, that are mainly used in submarine applications, renewable energy systems, interconnectors, and more.
