Ervin Europe celebrates 10 years of success at the Glaubitz factory

Ervin Europe proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Glaubitz factory near Dresden, Germany, in April 2024. This milestone marks a decade of innovation and growth for the plant, which has become a key player in the production of Amasteel Shot and Grit.

Ervin’s Glaubitz factory’s beginnings 

The construction works of the Glaubitz factory began in December 2012, and by April 2014 it was operational, producing the first batch of Ervin Amasteel in Germany. The years that followed saw continuous expansion to meet the rising demand for Amasteel abrasives across Europe.

A commitment to quality and sustainability

Ervin prioritizes both quality and sustainability at the Glaubitz factory: the 2017 opening of the Glaubitz Test Center allows customers to witness at first hand the superior quality of Amasteel products. Additionally, the company demonstrates its environmental commitment through ongoing improvements. The 2021 expansion of the Scrap Hall facilitates efficient steel scrap recycling for production, and the recent addition of an oxygen burner in 2022 enhances furnace operation while reducing carbon emissions. This focus on sustainability is further solidified by the installation of a new wind turbine, a significant step towards achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030, 15 years before Germany's national objective.

Pioneering the future: switch from natural gas to hydrogen fuel

The Glaubitz factory is also preparing to transition from natural gas to hydrogen fuel. This groundbreaking shift - planned for 2027 is aimed at significantly reducing the plant's carbon footprint and aligns with Ervin’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing process.  By embracing hydrogen, not only will Ervin Europe be able to ensure cleaner production processes, but also set a new standard in the industry for environmental responsibility.

A celebration of achievements and teamwork

The 10th anniversary was a momentous occasion, and a team of dedicated Glaubitz employees organized a grand celebration for the entire Ervin Europe family. This included staff from the Glaubitz factory, the Sprockhovel manufacturing plant, the European sales team, and the Berlin head office, along with their families. The event featured delicious food and drinks, lively music by a DJ, and engaging entertainment by a local children's acrobatic club and a traditional brass band. A breathtaking firework display capped off a memorable day for all attendees.
