Panozzo to present new range of heat shrink tubing for all industrial applications

Heat shrink tubing is a highly versatile tool used in a wide range of industrial applications due to its ability to reduce its diameter when heated.

Heat shrink tubing, also known as shrink terminals, is primarily used for:

- cable or object assembly;
- cable or object protection or repair;
- cable or object marking.

Shrinkable tubing is highly functional to ensuring mechanical protection, improving resistance to breakage and tension, as well as resistance against cracks, wear, dents, and deformations (flexibility). It also provides electrical, thermal, and chemical protection (such as water absorption, resistance to liquids, acids, salts, alkalis, chlorides, etc.), as well as environmental protection, including water impermeability (using adhesive), UV resistance, corrosion resistance, etc.

There are various models and variants of shrink terminals that can meet the aforementioned specifications.

The different types of heat shrink tubing are mainly differentiated by thickness:

- thin-wall tubing, ranging from 0.4 to 0.82 millimeters, is commonly used in the electrical industry for low-voltage applications. It is highly flexible and often used for cable assembly and protection;
- medium-thickness tubing, ranging from 1.6 to 3 millimeters, provides increased protection for cables and other objects;
- thick-wall tubing, ranging from 3.2 to 4.7 millimeters.

The material used in the composition of heat shrink tubing is plastic polyolefin. The shrink ratio can vary from 1.5:1 to 6:1, depending on the type of heat shrink tubing. A higher shrink ratio is useful for applications where the cable or object has multiple layers (depth).

The shape of the tubing can be either round or flat: heat shrink tubing with a diameter up to 6.4 millimeters is always round for ease of use. Heat shrink tubing with a variable diameter ranging from 6.4 to 16 millimeters is available in both flat and round shapes. Heat shrink tubing with a diameter of 16 millimeters or larger is always flat.

It is important to choose the correct inner diameter so that the tubing fits tightly around the cable. Panozzo experts recommend selecting an inner diameter that, after shrinking, is slightly smaller than the cable diameter. Additionally, the products are available in three different packaging options: spools (for longer pieces, up to 150 meters), mini-boxes, or cut to length (for shorter pieces of heat shrink tubing, up to 1.22 meters).
