Prima Zanetti, custom small metal parts and a new industrial washing process

Founded in 1961, Prima Zanetti is now one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of precision custom small metal parts, produced through wire cold forming. The company is strongly export-oriented, with over 65% of its output supplied to key sectors including automotive, railway, electromechanical, home appliances, electronics, automation, and construction.
New CABER 460/LC screw conveyor washer machine: quality and sustainability
To further enhance production efficiency, Prima Zanetti has recently introduced a new CABER 460/LC industrial washing machine equipped with a screw conveyor, specifically designed for bulk processing of small metal parts.
The controlled rotation of the screw conveyor keeps the components continuously moving under the action of the washing jets, ensuring highly uniform cleaning—an essential factor in maintaining high quality standards.
The integration of this new system also allows for significant optimization of:
- water consumption, which is reduced to the minimum required and without waste;
- the use of degreasing detergents, resulting in lower volumes of wastewater.
Cold forming: high productivity and precision
Prima Zanetti’s core business is the cold forming of metal wire, carried out using automatic multi-station progressive presses with up to five dies, including models from Sacma, Salvi, and National Machinery.
This technology enables the production of components with high dimensional accuracy, eliminates material waste typical of machining processes, and ensures cost efficiency even at high volumes, with production capacities reaching up to 3 million pieces per day.
The process is highly versatile and supported by a wide range of materials, including silver, pure iron, low-carbon steels, boron steels, copper, brass, stainless steels (ferritic and austenitic), aluminum and its alloys, with wire diameters ranging from 0.8 to 15 mm.
Custom components and certified secondary operations
The product range includes custom small metal parts such as solid and semi-tubular rivets, pins, special shafts, knurled rods, small shafts, threaded components, spacers, special screws, tubular parts, and eyelets. Dimensions can reach up to 15 mm in diameter and 80 mm in length, depending on geometry and tolerances.
In addition to cold forming, Prima Zanetti carries out in-house additional operations such as turning, knurling, rolling, thread-rolling, and heat treatments. Finishing processes—including washing, degreasing, and electroplating—are performed through qualified partners.
The company operates in accordance with ISO 26000 principles, uses energy supplied by CO₂-free certified providers, and ensures full traceability of raw materials in compliance with Conflict Minerals regulations.
