Cecchi Srl puts the pedal to the metal with the new Bihler RM-NC for stamping and bending

Cecchi Srl, a Florence-based leader in the production of springs and metal components, has chosen to invest in technological innovation. With the integration of a new Bihler RM-NC, a servo-assisted machine for metal stamping and bending, the historic company is enhancing its production efficiency, reaffirming its position as a key player in the fashion, medical, electronics, and oil & gas sectors.

Tradition in stamping and bending meets innovation

For decades, Cecchi Srl has successfully utilized Bihler RM 35 and RM 40 machines, which have been fundamental pillars in the production of high-quality metal components. The company has internally developed over 700 dedicated tools for these machines, demonstrating an exceptional ability for customization.

As production requirements evolved, Cecchi decided to take a significant step forward. The growing product variety and the need to manage increasingly smaller batches called for a more flexible and faster solution—leading to the decision to integrate the new Bihler RM-NC into the line.

The advantages of the Bihler RM-NC

The Bihler RM-NC stands out for its servo-assisted technology, which automates many operations and drastically reduces setup times. As explained by Bianca Cecchi (the company’s marketing manager and granddaughter of founder Renato Cecchi), “It now takes less than two hours to configure the machine, compared to the longer times required by our traditional solutions. This allows us to efficiently handle small batches and complete orders more quickly.

The machine has an average production capacity of 5,000 parts per hour. Thanks to its CNC system, the RM-NC automatically adjusts the slides and easily adapts to different configurations, minimizing operator intervention and ensuring fast, excellent results across productions of any size.

This flexibility is a key added value for Cecchi, which serves industries with highly specific requirements, such as fashion, medical, and electronics.

The integration of the Bihler RM-NC was seamless, allowing the company to increase production without disrupting existing operations. Despite the need to design new, machine-specific tools, this choice has unlocked new opportunities, “We have further improved the quality and precision of our products,” adds Valeria Cecchi, CFO and granddaughter of the founder.

A transition toward the future

Starting in 2025, the RM-NC and an upcoming Wafios machine will join the existing machinery lineup, further boosting production capacity and optimizing operational spaces to ensure even greater efficiency.

With a blend of traditional and innovative technologies, and a strategic vision driven by the new generation of the family, Cecchi Srl reaffirms its role as a benchmark in the metalworking sector.
