Extension springs with loops: why choose Mollificio Costanzino
Extension springs are made from round wire helically wound around an axis, tightly coiled and fitted with loops at the ends. They are mainly used for their ability to absorb shocks, vibrations, and energy and are therefore intended for applications such as suspensions, levers, etc. in the automotive, agricultural, nautical and aerospace industries.
The Italy-based spring making company Mollificio Costanzino is a real specialist in the production of this type of springs, with over twenty years of experience in the sector. Costanzino’s extension springs have a diameter ranging from 0.20 mm to 6.00 mm and can be manufactured in different materials:
- carbon steel wire, classes SM, SH, DH according to EN 10270-1, also in pre-galvanized and bezinal version;
- oil tempered and hardened steel wire, classes FD; VD, TD - Cr Si according to EN 10270-2;
- hard stainless steel wire, classes 1.4310, 1.4401, 1.4568 according to EN 10270-3;
- phosphor bronze wire, copper wire, etc. according to the customer's request.
What sets Costanzino's extension springs apart are the different types of hooks and loops, made with precision and quality both in terms of mechanical properties and aesthetics: German, English, Indian and special loops, according to drawings or samples, based on the final application, even for small batches.
This is possible thanks to the use of a dedicated looping machine that can work wire from ø0.3 to ø1.6 mm: while loops made by a traditional multiformer machine tend to be narrow and sharp, loops formed using specific looping equipment are rounder and wider and therefore considerably less prone to breakage!
