Welcome to Mollificio Romagnoli: master in spring manufacturing since 1952
The Expometals team is pleased to warmly welcome the spring manufacturer Mollificio Romagnoli, one of the newest additions to our prestigious network of exhibitors.
From a small artisan workshop in Milan to today's cutting-edge production facilities, Mollificio Romagnoli has traveled a long and fulfilling journey. Founded in 1952 from the passion and determination of Ernesto Romagnoli, the company has grown and evolved, becoming a benchmark in the spring manufacturing industry both nationally and internationally.
The roots of a passion
It all began when a very young Ernesto Romagnoli started working as an apprentice at a spring factory in Milan, standing out for his skill and dedication. This first contact with the world of springs left a deep mark on young Ernesto, a passion he would continue to nurture throughout his life.
After World War II, Romagnoli, alongside his wife, found the opportunity to start his own business in 1952: he purchased his first coiling machine and began producing springs manually and in small batches for the local market. This is how Mollificio Ernesto Romagnoli was born, in a modest 50 square meter workshop in Milan.
A continuous evolution
The story of Mollificio Romagnoli is in constant evolution. From its early years, characterized by small-scale, artisanal production, the company progressively expanded and modernized, investing in cutting-edge technology and new production facilities.
• In the 1950s and 1960s, the need for more production space prompted the company to relocate several times, until it settled in a 350-square-meter facility in Segrate in 1969.
• The 1980s Fabio, Ernesto's son, joined the company, marking a period of transformation: around the same time, the introduction of the first computers and CNC machinery revolutionized production, improving precision and efficiency. These developments once again underscored the need for more space, leading to the 1987 move to a 960-square-meter facility in Pioltello.
• The 1990s were marked by an insistence on quality, both in product and service, which allowed Mollificio Romagnoli to grow rapidly, acquiring the prestigious ISO 9000 Certification in 1995. In the late 1990s, the company continued to invest in new technologies, by purchasing its first spring-formers, automating the manual finishing work on shaped parts.
• In 2009, despite the global economic crisis, Mollificio Romagnoli decided to invest in its future by starting the construction of a new facility. From the original 50 square meters in Milan to the current 2,700 square meters in Caponago, the company has experienced remarkable growth.
• Today, with the third generation – Andrea and Elisa – joining the team, Mollificio Romagnoli continues to look ahead, bringing new ideas and skills to drive market expansion, particularly in Europe. The younger Romagnolis, with experience beyond the spring industry, introduce a fresh perspective that is leading the company toward new horizons.
