Specialinsert: innovation towards Industry 5.0

Specialinsert, a leading company in the fastening systems sector, recently announced new initiatives and strategic investments for the transition towards Industry 5.0. This development aims at more sustainable production with a focus on people, with targeted investments in training.

"Industry 5.0 aims to go beyond production efficiency to promote more sustainable, resilient, and human-centered manufacturing," says Cinzia Arduini, CEO of Specialinsert. "In this sense, for Specialinsert, this means investing in its human capital through training, up-skilling, and re-skilling courses, fostering an organizational transformation where people take on higher value-added roles to manage the increasing technological complexity of various production stages."

For the Italy-based company, this is the natural continuation of a path started some time ago, culminating in the Specialinsert 4.0 Program. With investments of over 5.5 million euros, the program improved logistics, production lines, and machinery digitization. In particular, seven automatic warehouses were installed, and Put-to-light technology was introduced, resulting in improved efficiency and accuracy in picking processes.

New cutting-edge components and systems have also been integrated, enhancing quality and reducing costs and setup times: new welding stations, multi-spindle machines to perfect drilling, threading, automatic tapping, metal part welding, turning processes, and a new automated machine for assembling the Keep-Nut® self-anchoring threaded insert.

Specialinsert has also strengthened its measurement and optical selection systems, improving quality control and installing an environmentally friendly washing plant to enhance hygiene and safety. Additionally, an advanced system for monitoring and analyzing production data has been developed, using machine learning techniques to improve planning and anticipate problem resolution.
