Thefts in WEEE collection centers: Recintha Safety MACS raises the wall against intrusions

WEEE collection centers play a critical role in managing Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, allowing the recovery of valuable resources and reducing the environmental impact. Unfortunately, these facilities are often targeted by thefts or vandalism, as they house high-value electronic components (such as refrigerator compressors) and precious metals (think of gold, copper, silver, palladium, and rhodium). This is exactly what happened to a WEEE collection center in the Vicenza area (Italy), which has also been plagued by vandalism and looting in recent months. In response, Nuova Defim Orsogril, a specialist in perimeter security, stepped in with the goal of enhancing e-waste site’s protection.

Recintha Safety MACS, the smart anti-climbing fence 
The request was clear: a perimeter fence system that is anti-climbing, anti-intrusion, robust, easy to install, and aesthetically modern, to be integrated with the alarm system in order to ensure higher levels of security. For this reason, Nuova Defim, a leader in the production of welded mesh fences, proposed its flagship product, Recintha Safety MACS – a high-security, alarmed, and intelligent system to prevent further criminal incidents.

Recintha Safety MACS is a high-tech solution designed to offer reliable and comprehensive protection against intrusions. The MACS alarm system (MEMS-Based Anti-Climbing System), specifically designed for this fence, accurately detects intrusion and climbing attempts, distinguishing natural or accidental events with great precision, and it can also be remotely monitored.

Specifically, Nuova Defim installed about 300 meters of alarmed fencing with a height of 2200 mm and a green RAL 6005 finish, ideal for blending with the surrounding environment. The solution also included three double-leaf vehicle gates, two of which are motorized and one manually operated.
