Exploring lifting's new frontiers: 3 questions for Giorinastri
How is a veteran such as Giorinastri addressing the latest challenges in the lifting and anchoring equipment industry? We interviewed Matteo Battista, the production manager, to discover what innovations the Italy-based company has in store for 2024.
What are the main challenges Giorinastri is currently facing?
Our primary challenge is to uphold market competitiveness while ensuring top quality in our lifting and anchoring systems and meeting delivery deadlines as closely as possible. We strive to maintain a good stock of material available for custom work, and proactively prepare additional reserves when possible to ensure prompt availability.
What are your projects for 2024?
In 2024, Giorinastri is investing in innovation and adopting new technologies, primarily focusing on replacing frames to rejuvenate our machine shop. Some frames have accumulated a lot of wear due to their long production life, so it's time to replace them. Renewing worn frames will not only boost production by about 8%, but also reduce electricity consumption and enhance overall performance.
In which specific areas is Giorinastri concentrating its innovation efforts?
In addition to producing electricity through our photovoltaic plant, we're exploring innovation in specific sectors, such as procuring recycled polypropylene and polyester wire from suppliers. This will kickstart our research and development for producing recycled straps, initially containing 20% to 25% recycled material. Our suppliers are also upgrading their extrusion plants to accommodate this production shift.
