Solutions for metal pretreatment
Henkel offers a wide range of BONDERITE® spray and immersion metal pretreatment solutions.
Temporary corrosion protection - applicable to almost all metals.
Corrosion can significantly compromise performance during production processes. A simple but effective method against it is to apply a protective layer between the metal and the corrosive agent. Henkel's temporary protections also act as lubricants or cleaning agents.
The zinc-phosphate coating is applied in three stages:
- surface cleaning and activation;
- application of the conversion layer;
- sealing / post passivation.
Through this process, a polycrystalline film of iron, manganese, nickel, and zinc phosphates is applied to ensure perfect adhesion of powder coatings, electrophoretic coatings, and liquid pigments. Excellent for protecting metals from corrosion, this pretreatment is suitable for galvanized steel, electro-galvanized steel, zinc-coated aluminum/steel, zinc, cadmium, silver, and tin alloys.
Iron phosphate coating - a non-crystalline, non-metallic coating of iron phosphates, used to remove traces of oil, rust, or scale resulting from painting. It can be applied via immersion or spray. As a result of this pre-treatment, metals also acquire greater flexibility and impact resistance. Also applicable to aluminum and galvanized metals.
Zirconate coating - alternative to zinc-iron phosphate coating, this is a thin-film conversion coating, which offers perfect paint adhesion and corrosion protection. Suitable for many metals (steel, zinc, aluminum), it can be applied via immersion, spray, or atomization. Thanks to this pre-treatment, the metals acquire a resistant, durable, and flexible finish.
