Condoroil’s permanent coatings for hot-dip galvanized coils
What are permanent coatings?
Permanent coatings, also called thin organic coatings, are chemicals containing polymers, corrosion inhibitors, and additives of different nature, such as pigments.
Why are they applied?
Permanent coatings are mainly used on hot-dip galvanized substrates. They form a 1μm thick deposit on the metal surface, which provides several benefits, from anti-fingerprint properties to enhanced corrosion resistance. In specific applications, thin organic coatings can also be used on aluminum, zinc, and stainless steel.
Main features
High-quality permanent coatings should have the following characteristics:
- adhesion and scratch resistance;
- ability to increase the corrosion resistance of the metal;
- anti-fingerprint properties;
- stability to UV rays;
- chemical resistance to coolants, detergents, and cleaning solvents;
- overpaintability;
- foamability;
- resistance to temperature;
- pleasant aesthetic appearance;
- self lubricating properties.
