WTM single-twist stranding lines for aerospace cables

WTM single-twist stranding lines for aerospace cables

The aerospace sector, both in civil and military sides, requires increasingly cutting-edge solutions and innovations for what concerns the electrical interconnections and WTM stands alongside its customers, working in this direction. Considering the characteristics of the cables to be produced and the level of production efficiency to be achieved, total backtwisting, accurate tension control and high working speed are the most suitable pluses for the cable stranding lines.

WTM single-twist stranding machines are designed and engineered to guarantee the accuracy and precision that this type of process requires, while still keeping it flexible and variable, in order to be able to cover a wide range of cable production.

Taking into consideration the specific requests of Customers, WTM single-twist stranding machines which are particularly suitable for this application sector include:

  • • primary backtwist pay-offs, with precise wire tension control;
  • • customized stranding stars, based on Customers’ preferences;
  • rotating pulling system with integrated dancer control;
  • taping solutions suitable for any need, both with longitudinal and concentric layout;
  • take-ups with precise cable laying and stable production at high speed.

TIn the specific case of this video, we show a machine equipped with:

  • DIN400 backtwist pay-offs, one in single and two in multiple construction for space saving, with our patented tension adjustment system: WTM concentric dancer control, which reaches very low tension values;
  • 7-position stranding star, for guiding and preparing the wires at best before the stranding phase;
  • concentric taping unit for cables insulation;
  • DIN630 double-pintle take-up, with high-tech flyer cage for high performances
