Koradi Techno Days: E-mobility shaping the future of the spring industry with Wafios
From October 9 to 13, WST Koradi opened the gates of its headquarters to host the Techno Days. The Open House event offered a glimpse into the latest Koradi and Wafios machinery for springs and metal parts, delved into industry topics such as e-mobility, and shed light on how the spring sector is evolving to meet new market challenges.
The occasion also celebrated the successful partnership between these key players in the spring manufacturing field, showcasing the remarkable expertise and technological advancements of both companies. Here is an overview of all the innovations under the spotlight during the presentation.
Wafios:
CNC FMU 08+ springformer / multiformer with 15 axes, wire range 0.2-0.8 mm.
CNC FMU 16+ springformer / multiformer with 19 axes, wire range 0.4-1.6 mm.
CNC FUL 16 spring coiling machine with 9 axes, wire range 0.12-0.8 mm.
CNC F30 spring coiling machine with 6 axes, wire range 0.7-3.0 mm.
The standout feature of these machines was the latest version of the Qspring+ simulation software for the FMU series. Guests were able to experience the capabilities of Wafios' new program, allowing simulation of the spring production process before the final setup on the machine.
Koradi:
CNC TPL 40 electronic bending and cutting machine with 9 axes.
CNC FM 800 electronic bending and coiling machine with linear transfer.
Koradi’s machines were featured with an important update to the Multi 2 software, now able to perform corrections on-the-fly for each axis installed on the machine.
A joint celebration in the shadow of E-mobility
The evening of October 11 marked the climax of the Techno Days, where Koradi and Wafios jointly celebrated their anniversaries: the 60th for Koradi and the 130th for Wafios. The event was attended by prominent guests, partners, and industry personalities from all across Italy. A highlight was the visit to the Lariana Boat Museum in Pianello del Lario (CO), featuring an exclusive guided tour. The festivities concluded with an informal happy hour and dinner in the museum's main hall, where Luca Koradi, owner of the company, was honored with a plaque presented by ANCCEM President, Francesco Silvestri.
Uwe-Peter Weigmann, Wafios CEO, emphasized the significance of the collaboration with Koradi as its exclusive representative in Italy, highlighting how "Wafios is stronger thanks to this partnership." He also addressed a topic that’s becoming increasingly relevant for the industry: electric mobility, which he sees as the future.
Indeed, Wafios has long been prepared to reconfigure some of its machines (such as the FMU series) for the production of copper wire components for electric vehicles, including hairpins, axial flux coils, and bus bars.
Wafios staff is available at the company’s headquarters in Reutlingen, Germany, to showcase its machines and assess technical feasibility, produce prototypes, and provide comprehensive support for the first sample to mass production solution. This theme was also extensively explored during the Wafios E-mobility Days held from October 17 to 19.
expometals was happy to be part of this celebration as Koradi's partner. The Techno Days were an extraordinary success, blending innovation, history, and future industry perspectives into a unique moment of sharing and reflection.
We eagerly anticipate how the collaboration between Wafios and Koradi will continue to shape the industry.
