Pay-off system for high-quality data and telecommunication cables

Pay-off system with variable back twist, with integrated dancer, for the production of high-quality data and telecommunication cables.

The pay-off system RAD 630 with backtwist has been especially developed for the production of data and telecommunication cables, e.g. LAN cables much better than category 5. In combination with a double twist stranding machine, the pay-off system can be used for manufacturing of high quality pairs or quads. Also it is most suitable for cabling of the pairs and the quads in combination with a single twist or double twist stranding machine.

The backtwist is steplessly adjustable between 0% and 100% depending on product specification. Each pay-off bobbin is driven by a speed-controlled DC motor for 4-Q-operation. The tension of each core is measured by a load cell installed in deflection roller at exit side and set at operator control panel. The set tension is kept constant via a pneumatically operated dancer system, controlling the bobbin speed. The dancer, the bobbin drive and the electronic parts in the cradle are supplied with energy via slip ring elements of highest quality for long operating time. The stranding material is guided very smoothly and with less friction through the whole machine, i.e. all contact points of stranding material within the machine are surface-treated, deflection rollers have a large diameter.

The full synchronisation of the pay-off unit with all other line components is achievable by a sophisticated electronic control system. This electronic system is part of the Stolberger KMB stranding machines type DVL.
