Two WH20 spring coiling benches on display at OMD headquarters

OMD invites all spring industry experts to witness its latest innovation: the WH20 coiling bench for the production of compression springs. This machine has the capability to produce torsion springs with stems, offering the flexibility to create windings in both right-hand and left-hand directions, with the possibility to choose between a constant or variable pitch. The pitch can be programmed via CNC. Optional 4th and 5th axes are available.

Below is the dimensional range of workpieces that the WH20 lathe can process:

- Wire strength: 1800 N/mm² - 1300 N/mm² - < 900 N/mm²;
- Wire diameter (d): 6 - 17 mm/6 - 20 mm/6 - 26 mm;
- External spring diameter (Da): min. 25 mm - max. 220 mm;
- Spring length (Lo): max. 1000 mm/2200 mm (manual unloading);
- Coiling spindle speed: max. 175 rpm;
- Length of first leg: max. 400 mm;
- Length of second leg: unlimited.

The capabilities of the WH20 coiling bench are supported by automation systems provided by OMD, enabling the management of all machines involved in the production process within the framework of Industry 4.0. OPC-UA and/or MQTT interfaces guarantee efficient interconnection between machinery and communication with company infrastructure and cloud services.

Currently, two WH20 machines are now on display at the OMD headquarters in Domaso (Como, Italy): an opportunity not to be missed!
