4-RUNNER H1, how to process a tube from coil

Processing tube from “coil”: straighten it, bend it and cut it, is the speciality of the 4-RUNNER family from the BLM GROUP. We speak of “family” because the 4-RUNNER H3 system is capable of processing tubes up to 22mm (0.87”) in diameter, now joined by the 4-RUNNER H1 which is dedicated to complex machining of tube with diameters up to 12.7mm (0.5”).

From the “coil” bending system, 4-RUNNER H1 is dedicated to difficult machining of flat or three-dimensional coils with small size tube diameters. In these cases, dimensions are important, therefore the main goal of the 4-RUNNER H1’s design, starting from the bending head, was to reduce the dimension as much as possible to allow the production of components that could not be manufactured in the past.

The latest generation of completely electrical systems, the 4-RUNNER H1 bends by flexing right and left in process and is multi-radius with the possibility of variable radius. It can be easily integrated with a SMART bender to produce a complete system, which we at the BLM GROUP call, “bending with mandrel from coil”. The 4-RUNNER H1 rightfully belongs with the All-electric systems from the BLM GROUP as all movement axis are electrical, including the blocking and support. For this reason, calibration of the equipment is easily done thanks to the torque control and saved with the part program. No mechanical adjustments mean maximum repeatability of the parts during bending operations and tube forming is measured in real time to guarantee part repeatability without wasted time or efficiency.

Three-dimensional graphic programming of the piece is made simple and intuitive and a simulation of the execution avoids multiple attempts during the production stage. In order to supply the “coil”, the 4-RUNNER H1 is equipped with a new REEL with clutch which allows it to work in neutral with commands inserted directly by the work program. Even orbital cutting, both internal (4RIPC) and external (4RC), on the 4-RUNNER H1 is completely electrical. Two brushless motors control the rotation and movement of the cutting wheel ensuring precision and process repeatability. 4-RUNNER H1 is a I4.0 compatible system.
