Bossi Srl unveils its new 8-unit copper ingots brushing machine
Bossi Srl's expertise extends beyond its renowned leadership in pipe and bar finishing systems. The company has taken on a new challenge, developing an innovative 8-unit brushing tunnel specifically for copper ingots for a leading company in the sector. This machine performs precise brushing of all surfaces of the ingot mold, including its four corners and four sides.
Here is the dimensional range of copper ingots that the brushing tunnel can process:
- dimensions: from 120 mm x 120 mm to 450 mm x 450 mm;
- length: from 750 mm to 1,500 mm;
- maximum weight: 450 Kg.
Copper ingot brushing machine, how does it work?
The operator positions the copper ingot on a motorized roll conveyor, where two strategically placed dividers help center the piece perfectly within the tunnel.
Once inside, the ingot mold embarks on its cleaning journey. Four brushes, positioned at a 45° angle, meticulously brush the four corners. Each brush is mounted on dual slides, allowing for precise movements along both the X and Y axes. The X-axis movement features an innovative back-and-forth oscillation, ensuring uniform wear and optimal brushing for corner radii ranging from 13 mm to 36 mm.
After the corners have been brushed, the ingot mold proceeds to the next station for brushing its 4 sides. Here, two motors power each brush, allowing X and Y movements.
All 16 axes across the eight brushes are controlled by position encoders and inverters with automatic power recovery. This ensures precise and uniform brushing throughout the process.
Once brushed on all sides, the ingot mold exits the tunnel and stops on the rollconveyor for inspection and unloading by the operator.
