PULSEWELD 15K22: a new frontier in super austenitic 904L steel welding 

AISI 904L steel (X1NiCrMoCu25-20-5), thanks to its high nickel, chromium, and molybdenum content, stands out for its exceptional corrosion resistance but also presents significant challenges in the welding process.

To address this challenge, LEDICA Srl has developed the new PULSEWELD 15K22 generator, which has captured the interest of a major steel tube manufacturer.

PULSEWELD 15K22: a minimal and uniform internal bead

Internal tests carried out by the customer on AISI 904L tubes revealed a uniform and well-integrated weld bead. By reducing heat input, the material in the weld zone experiences less alteration.

One of the most significant findings reported by the customer is the substantial reduction of the internal weld bead, which is almost negligible. As a result, in most cases, post-weld bead removal (such as bead rolling or mechanical removal) is unnecessary, eliminating the need for additional processes to meet the required specifications of these types of tubes.

Microstructural quality and reduced waste

Macroscopic analyses have confirmed a uniform and consistent microstructure, capable of withstanding the stress tests mandated by production specifications. Furthermore, the enhanced process stability has led to a significant reduction in material waste, improving overall production efficiency.
