Mazak to showcase innovative processing solutions at EuroBLECH 2024

Yamazaki Mazak is set to make waves at the upcoming EuroBLECH 2024, with the presentation of innovative processing solutions designed to increase productivity and optimize manufacturing efficiency. These solutions, including the debut of the OPTIPLEX 3015 Ez, the high-performance OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO 20kW, and the integration of advanced machine tool synergy, highlight Mazak’s commitment to providing economical, high-precision technology for a wide range of manufacturers.

OPTIPLEX 3015 Ez: laser cutting made easy

The trade show will see the European debut of Mazak’s latest innovation, the OPTIPLEX 3015 Ez. Designed to offer high-performance laser cutting at an accessible price point, this new machine aims to bring advanced laser technology to a wider range of businesses, helping them streamline operations and increase productivity.

While the machine is available with configurations in 3 kW, 4 kW, and 6 kW resonator to accommodate diverse cutting requirements, at EuroBLECH Hannover, Mazak will be showcasing a 6kW resonator model.

The OPTIPLEX 3015 Ez stands out for its combination of ease of maintenance, user-friendly design, and exceptional cutting performance. It is built to handle a wide variety of materials and thicknesses, ensuring precision and high mechanical rigidity. One of the highlights of the OPTIPLEX 3015 Ez is its integration into a fully automated manufacturing cell, which will be on display at EuroBLECH. This system includes a three-pallet changer to optimize cycle times, along with a Mazak CST 3015 storage automation system and a SMART MANUFACTURING CELL robot sorting system. The storage system provides efficient material handling with eight shelves—six dedicated to raw materials and two for unloading remnant sheets.

At the heart of the cell is Mazak's Smooth Line Controller software, which coordinates the entire process from order receipt to the shipment of finished parts. This comprehensive integration allows for seamless operation, improving overall efficiency and reducing production costs.

OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO: the top of the line

In addition to the OPTIPLEX 3015 Ez, Mazak will also showcase the OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO, part of its high-end fiber laser series. The 20kW variant on display will feature Beam Shaping Technology and GRAND CUT technology, allowing for high-power and high-accuracy cutting of thick materials with superior stability and precision. These innovations enable cutting material up to 50 mm thick with four times more stability and a significant reduction in post-processing work. This machine's ability to adjust the beam shape also improves bevel cutting by over 80%, making it a standout tool for sheet metal processing.

FSW-460V: don’t miss the live demos

One of the central themes of Mazak’s presence at EuroBLECH 2024 is the key synergy between its laser processing technologies and machine tool portfolio. This integration is designed to help manufacturers optimize production costs, reduce cycle times, and lower tooling cost.

The Friction Stir Welding FSW-460V machine is equipped with a heavy-duty table that can accommodate loads of up to 500kg, and with a spindle capable of generating a maximum thrust force of 14kN at speeds of up to 10,000rpm. This level of precision and reliability underscores Mazak's commitment to helping manufacturers enhance their productivity in high-speed welding operations.

Mazak will demonstrate this synergy live at the exhibition, showcasing how the OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO 20kW and the new Friction Stir Welding (FSW) 460V machine work in tandem, as a laser-processed aluminum sheet will be passed directly from the laser machine to the FSW machine for friction stir welding. This process highlights how the combination of laser cutting and advanced welding techniques can streamline operations and improve efficiency.
