Electrical-upsetting machines

Electrical upsetting is a hot forming process that is performed before the heading stage. This alternative technology is mainly used for the production of steel and steel-alloyed parts. Although electrical upsetting is lesser-known, it provides fast changeover and low tooling cost. CEMSA electrical-upsetting machines for bars are of two types and have different functions depending on the field of application.

For more than 20 years, CEMSA has been able to satisfy its buyers by supplying them with different models of machines for the electrical upsetting of bars. These machines are designed for bars up to a diameter of 120 mm and can be single or double, single-phase or three-phase depending on the uses and working times. Loading and unloading of pieces is carried-out by anthropomorphic robots. Free electrical upsetting machines are mainly used in the automotive industry and special applications. CEMSA engineers can also estimate future production and evaluate the time of each cycle.

- in-die upsetting machines

In-die electrical-upsetting machines designed by CEMSA can process both bars and tubes. The shape obtained through this process is similar to the final version and, as such, it does not require hot forming. The system also allows the tube to be re-molded by enlarging the thickness of the ends while keeping the inside diameter constant. The process thus ensures optimal results on the ends as well as in the middle section. This type of processing also offers significant material savings and a final tolerance of about 1 mm.
