The TMB-Twin Module Block system is the ultimate Danieli technological step in achieving ultra-high finishing speeds in wire rod production with higher plant efficiency, better material yield, stricter product tolerances and lower production costs. Two plants fitted with TMB technology were started up at the end of 2009 at the Pangang Group in the PRC respectively at 1. Changcheng Special Steels Co Ltd - 450,000 tonnes per year special steel wire rod mill for production of engineering and stainless steel grades.
The new production outlet is equipped with the latest generation Danieli technology including a four pass TMB high-speed finishing block designed to produce 5.5mm to 20 mm diameter quality wire rod, at guaranteed rolling speeds of up to 95 mps into 2.0 tonnes coils, with very strict end-product size tolerances. 2. Chenghdu Iron & Steels - 500,000 tonnes per year wire rod mill for production of carbon, welding, CHQ, and spring steel qualities wire rod coils. The mill features a four-pass TMB Twin Module Block high-speed finishing block designed to produce 5mm to 22 mm diameter quality wire rod, at guaranteed rolling speeds of up to 100 mps into 2.3 tonnes coils, with very strict end product size tolerances.
Both the new wire rod mills are also equipped with the latest generation Danieli DSC water cooling system and the oil film bearing type loop layer with associated auxiliaries.
