In-line unwinding machines upstream of cold headers
EME designs and manufactures horizontal and vertical unwinding machines to quickly and accurately unwind the wire. The company provides two different models of unwinding machines: PB and PS.
PB vertical unwinding machine
The PB model is a vertical unwinder with the function of unwinding wire coils on the rotating disk, thus feeding the work line located downstream. The machine is not motor-driven, so the unwinding force must be exerted by the machines downstream. At the top of the rotating disk, a cold braking system exerts a counter-force to maintain proper tension of the processing wire.
PS horizontal pre-straightening unwinding machine
The PS model horizontal pre-straightening unwinder is an operating machine installed upstream of cold headers for screws and bolts. Its function is to support rolled or drawn wire coils of predetermined size and weight, and successively unwind, pre-straighten, and push the wire end to the header. The machine enables unwinding and pre-straightening wires from 12 mm to 40 mm in diameter.
The PS model offers many benefits because the machine supplies and straightens the wire in a single operation, with no need for a specific straightening unit. The time required for the coil changeover is significantly reduced, as well as the floor space required for large-diameter coils. The machine is capable of stopping automatically when needed. In addition, it reduces the coil load on cold-forming machines. The PS model can be equipped with a variety of accessories, including additional brackets for straightening rollers, disc cutters, and sharpeners/blowers.
