Wet & Dry Continuous Casting Lines for Al Ingots

The ingot casting line launched by GMS/ENGITEC a few months ago is based on the unique and innovative Wet & Dry Crystallizer Machine – PATENT PENDING.
The production rate reaches 2,000 ingots per operating hour and the ingots have the standardized weights of 8.5kg or 10 kg.

The mechanics of the Wet & Dry Ingot Casting Line has been conceived keeping into high consideration the particular environment, the severe working conditions and the habits of the foundries of secondary Aluminum.

The design efforts have been aimed at guaranteeing the perfect sealing between Steel band and Copper blocks all along the caterpillar. Furthermore, GMS introduced a new concept of metal fluid dynamics compatible with the high casting speed necessary to reach with stability the promised casting rate of 2,000 ingots per operating hour.

The Automation Control System – the core of the Line – embraces the most modern concepts of the Industry. The process parameters, once set, are stored in the PLC and are recordable for each identified product. The traceability data marked on each ingot does not require any manual operation outside the Line, but is input directly from the HMI. The innovative Wet & Dry cooling process allows considerable energy saving.
