Niehoff showcasing advanced machinery at wire China 2023
Maschinenfabrik Niehoff and its Chinese subsidiary Niehoff Machinery Changzhou (NMC) Co., Ltd. will display at the wire China 2023 trade fair, booth E1F23,
- an MMH 121 multiwire drawing machine,
- a D 632 type double twist bunching machine,
- a BMV 24-type braiding machine.
All machines enable considerable savings in energy costs.
Furthermore, Niehoff’s after-sales service will be introducing its offer of spare parts with the Niehoff Original+ label that help increase the efficiency of Niehoff systems over the long term.
MMH 121: High-quality wire (in the picture above)
NMC builds - among others - such multiwire drawing lines under Niehoff license for the Chinese market. One example is a MMH 121 + RM 201 + S 632 type line. Such lines are called “hybrid lines” as they consist of components built and supplied by the Niehoff headquarters in Germany and components built by NMC. The mechanical parts of the drawing machine are supplied by Niehoff Germany while the annealer, the switch cabinet, and the spooling system are built by NMC. All components are assembled at NMC, where the test runs are also carried out. Only after succeeding with the tests a line is delivered to the customer, and after commissioning by NMC technicians, the line is put into operation.
Wires drawn on these lines show highly homogeneous characteristics and narrowly tolerated properties along their entire length. Such wires can be processed to multiwire bundles with excellent characteristics and are ideally suited for final applications or downstream processing into strands, ropes or braids.

number of wire drafts: 16, 24, 28, 32
D 632: Perfectly filled spools (in the picture above)
The D 632 type double twist bunching machine was built by NMC under Niehoff license, meeting the high Niehoff quality criteria. Due to the single-bow design in combination with the energy-saving bow “Eco-Bow” this machine consumes significantly less energy during operation than conventional one-bow bunchers or even two-bows bunchers. In addition to the energy cost savings, the machine also allows reducing material costs because it produces strands with very tight tolerances. Only the minimally required copper cross-section is used. Furthermore, using this machine saves labor costs as the opto-electronic traverse system NBAT and the precise functioning of the machine enable one operator to operate more machines at the same time. The spools are perfectly filled due to the regulated wire tension, regardless of the spool filling. The D 632 is ideally suited for processing copper alloy fine wires such as CuSn0.3 into bunches for automotive wires. Using the patented “Stretch Forming and Straightening Technology” the D 632 avoids the crowning and spiraling effect typical for certain copper alloys.

BMV 24: Flawless shieldings
Compared to conventional braiding machines, the vertical lever-arm rotary braider type BMV 24 with 24 bobbin carriers has several special features:
- The BMV 24 can automatically accelerate the bobbin speed from 110 rpm to a maximum value of 130 rpm. This allows the braiding performance to be increased by 10%. At the same time, the frequency of the lubrication intervals is reduced depending on the slideway temperature. This means that less lubricant is used and less oil contamination occurs on the braids.
- Niehoff’s WTC (Wire Tension Control) system ensures that all braiding wires are applied to the product to be braided under uniform tension from full to empty bobbin. The result is a flawless shielding, which is needed for more and more applications.
- The braider keeps the braiding coverage ratio of the product to be braided constant at the set value. Since only the absolutely necessary amount of braiding wire is applied, up to 10% material can be saved.
- Multiple monitoring systems enable unattended operation over longer periods of time and without frequent operator intervention.
The BMV 16 is designed for processing bare or plated round or flat wires made of copper, aluminum or stainless steel, as well as artificial yarn and fibers.
