MFL Group and JRC MATT: the research activities have begun
In July, the collaboration between the Polytechnic University of Milan, MFL GROUP, and other relevant names in the field brought to the creation of the new Joint Research Center MATT (Metal And Transformation Technologies).
Now, the activities of the JRC have started: technical tables have been set, with a variety of professors and industry experts involved in different joint studies. In particular, one of the research lines features the expertise of the MFL GROUP to create and define numerical models and systems aimed at measuring how the temperature of the metal wire changes when it is wound on capstans during drawing operations. The research group of MECCPolimi, coordinated by Marco Tarabini, has been collaborating with the University’s Department of Energy to establish a thermal model capstan-wire. Additionally, new temperature measuring systems based on groups of IR thermometers are being tested.
