A look at the new GEM-designed multiple spot welding machine

Despite the difficult times, continuing to invest and innovate is fundamental. This has been the mantra of GEM Srl for the last few months. The leading manufacturer of components and machines for resistance welding has recently launched on the market a new multiple spot welding machine F20.16C.2TX170.2400.

This cutting-edge line was specifically designed to join electro-welded meshes to a tubular frame. This particular application has been greatly demanded by manufacturers of safety guards for industrial machinery. Innovative, sturdy, and made with special aluminum profiles, the new plant boasts several peculiar features, such as:

- working area: 2400 mm;
- 16 welding cylinders, stroke 100 mm;
- 125 mm bore;
- maximum electrode force 740 daN at 6 bar;
- 160 mm electrode holder;
- lower electrode holder bar fixed along the entire length of the machine;
- double control with height-adjustable stand and emergency button;
- 4 m cable;
- electric cabinet for power and machine cycle management with Siemens 7 series PLC;
- panel width reading device with direct contact laser sensor;
- signals implementation according to INDUSTRY 4.0.

This is not all. The secondary circuit is made by 2 medium-frequency transformers mounted in parallel in order to balance the secondary currents and use the same welding program for each head. The machine is also equipped with a modular air-cooled 1200 AMP inverter and a Te 700 welding control unit that operates in constant current, constant power, constant energy, duty percentage for primary compensation, and fixed duty percentage modes. Moreover, welding programs can be defined according to the mesh size and the thickness of the tubular profile.
