All the best in resistance welding: explore GEM's advanced technologies

All the best in resistance welding: explore GEM's advanced technologies

With a longstanding presence at wire Düsseldorf since 2004, GEM Srl, an Italy-based company specializing in resistance welding solutions, is ready to captivate visitors with a wide range of innovative technologies once again. What exciting offerings does the GEM Srl team have in store for this edition?

Marta System 12 AX, an automated welding cell for rebars

This sophisticated automatic welding cell is tailor-made for rebars. With integrated robotic technology, it offers remarkable flexibility, boasting a range of motion from 2 to 12 axes. Its lightweight and compact design, complete with full cladding, ensures easy transportation without the need for disassembly. Employing a flat plane welding technique, it features electric actuators, a servo-controlled rotating electrode, and an electrically self-centering vertical gun. Additionally, it includes a 2-position mechanical rotary table and a programmable rotary positioner. For seamless part unloading, a modular electropneumatic extractor can be seamlessly integrated. Developed in collaboration with the KEBA Group, the robotic control system supports up to 16 axes and employs the Vx Works operating system.

D01, butt welder for mild steel or stainless steel wire

The D01 is a butt welder tailored for joining mild or stainless steel wires of different sizes, with adjustable jaw distance for enhanced visibility, safety, and precision. It can be operated manually with pedal control or integrated with an automatic bender and robot for picking up, welding, and unloading pieces automatically.

G30, precision electric dresser

The G30 precision electric dresser boasts a 550-watt three-phase motor, operating at 230/400 volts and 50/60 Hz frequency. With a cutter spinning at 500 rpm, it ensures swift dressing operation. Featuring a sensor for cutter rotation detection, its height-adjustable support structure provides stability, while its versatile design allows for both horizontal and vertical positioning. A spring-loaded balancing system ensures uniform weight distribution. It also includes a chip blowing and suction system, along with an integrated collection tank for efficient cleaning. This component is designed and manufactured to be integrated into robotized assemblies of rebars or sheet metal components.

GEM’s range of products to be showcased at the fair also includes electric guns for robotized cells, one C-gun and one with parallel motion arms, equipped with brushless motors controlled by the robot's seventh axis. Welding power is ensured by state-of-the-art medium-frequency transformers. Additionally, samples of Blumec cylinders (a company within the GEM group) primarily used for resistance welding machines will be available.

An opportunity to meet global players in the industry

Marta De Vivo, Sales Manager of the company attending the fair along with Mario De Vivo - founder and CEO - and Roberto Astuti - Software Engineer - shared her expectations with Expometals.net readers and provided some insights into what the GEM team has in store for the event:

"At the event, we'll showcase our Marta System to dynamically illustrate how the robot moves on the welding sample. This allows visitors to grasp the precision and efficiency of our technology. However, for the safety of all participants, we won't be conducting live welding."

"Through our attendance at the wire show over the years  we have cultivated numerous business relationships with clients worldwide. While this fair is renowned for its global reach, our most significant leads haven't originated from Germany in recent years. We anticipate that the German market will fully unveil its potential soon, but we recognize that seizing optimal opportunities requires a focus on broad internationalization rather than reliance on a single national market."

"We're optimistic that the 2024 edition will provide us with opportunities to consolidate existing relationships and explore new investment avenues in automation, collaborating with key global players in the rebar product manufacturing sector. Perhaps this year's most important lead will indeed come from Germany!"

Contact the GEM Srl team to schedule an appointment at booth H17/A53 during the wire Düsseldorf fair (April 15 -19, 2024). This is the perfect chance to discover all the company's precision welding technology!
