Mourning in the wire industry: farewell to historic entrepreneur Mario Vitari
On September 8, the historic entrepreneur Mario Vitari has passed away.
Born in Lecco (Italy) in 1938, Mario started working in the family run business when he was just a kid. Upon the departure of his father Abbondio, Mr. Mario took over the leadership of the company, Vitari Spa.
Over the years, the range of wire machinery was expanded considerably to cover nail, chain, wire mesh, and wire product manufacturing. The machines for wire bars straightening and cutting would later become the company’s flagship products, as the business continued to experience a huge success, thus expanding to international markets, and becoming an industry leader.
Mr. Vitari was remarkably hardworking, showcasing exceptional technical and business skills over the years. Even in his elderly life, following the eventual selling of the family business, he got back into the game as a collaborator of the wire machine manufacturer Milani Srl in order to pass on his knowledge to younger generations and sparing no effort until the day he passed away. He also served as a councilor of the ACIMAF association, providing his experience and all his commitment to the members.
He left us on September 8, leaving a huge hole in the hearts of his family and in the wire industry in general. Numerous and moving are the messages of esteem for him. We quote one that above all encapsulates the essence of his person:
"Mario’s passing left us in great grief. However, we want to believe that his example has shown a path and way of life to those who lived and worked alongside him. His presence will always live in our company, where we work daily on Vitari wire straighteners.
Thank you, Mario!"
