Low energy brass diffusion fluidized bed: a new generation for the steel cord production
In the steel cord production process, the creation of brass through the diffusion of copper and zinc by heating is a crucial stage in the plating line. The fluidized bed technique is widely used in steel cord wire production globally. This system allows for the simultaneous handling of various wire diameters and different carbon contents, along with multiple strands.
One of the key advantages of this system developed by FIB is the ease of operation, achieved by simply controlling the sand temperature in each zone. The latest generation of fluidized beds incorporates heat recovery from flue gas exhaust, enhancing energy efficiency.
When comparing the use of induction technology (which the FIB Group also offers) with fluidized bed technology, the simplicity of use, flexibility, and overall lower operating costs have led two steel cord plants to reinvest in diffusion fluidized beds. A single unit can simultaneously treat up to 60 wires.
