Ceramic lined galvanizing furnaces

n

The most recent ceramic lined galvanizing furnaces rely upon a sturdy structural steel frame which is completely lined using three separate layers of ceramic refractory. Each layer of the refractory serves to ensure the reliability and durability of the galvanizing furnace.

The refractory closest to the molten metal is a heat resistant and extremely durable material. This layer may be installed using interlocking tongue and groove bricks which ensures that the anticipated abrasion from dross, broken wires, ingot insertion and other  normal operating hazards will not lead to a fumace failure.

Behind the ‘hot face‘ refractory are two layers of insulating bricks to ensure that the unit is thermally efficient and that the molten metal does not escape from the furnare. As should be expected in this type of furnace, the molten zinc materials will ingress through small gaps in the first layer of the refractory. When the unit is fabricated correctly this molten metal ingress will ‘freeze’ as the temperature  decreases beyond the first layer. The frozen metal will provide the unit with an impregnable and completely reliable crucible for the molten metal for years of successful operation.
