A new delivery for ICMI Forni: automatic plant for heat treatment
ICMI Forni Industriali is a well-known manufacturer of industrial plants for the steel sector.
ICMI has recently completed the installation of a heat treatment plant for the aeronautical sector designed to carry out hardening, tempering, and annealing on forged stainless, duplex, super duplex, alloy, and carbon steel.
The capacity of the plant is 15 tons and the performance achieved on each machine is remarkable:
- one reheating furnace with recuperative burners 800 °C - 1200 °C certified according to AMS 2750 E class 3 (± 8 °C);
- one tempering furnace 400 °C - 750 °C certified according to AMS 2750 E class 1 (± 3 °C);
- two quenching tanks: one with water and one with polymer. The agitation system (1 m/s speed) of the two tanks allows defining a cooling curve according to the charge;
- one automatic loader: taking the charge from the oven, it immerses the hot charge on the bottom of the tank in just 22 seconds (from the closing of the oven door to complete immersion).

The automation of the line minimizes the operator's efforts, who handles the placing of the charge on the appropriate pallet: then, the system autonomously carries out the treatment cycle according to the recipe until the charge is returned to the unloading position.
Moreover, the instrumentation was checked by means of TUS (Test Uniformity Survey) and SAT (System Accuracy Test) tests.
More news about the company are coming soon: stay tuned.
