QED Wire Lines: successful commissioning in Barcelona, Spain

QED Wire Lines is pleased to announce its most recent successful commissioning in Barcelona, Spain. QED delivered a contract to supply replacement equipment for use in the continuous low carbon annealing of steel wire. A FastHeat™ fluidbed Annealing Furnace and HighTurbulence® Pickling System were designed to the specific technical, environmental and safety requirements of our customer: A. Bianchinin I. S.A.

The energy efficient and ruggedly designed FastHeat™ Fluid bed Furnace will allow for higher wire speeds at the facility. It incorporates the latest combustion and control system technology; with full proportional and closed loop control through Siemens PLC hardware, this new furnace will provide our customer with precision flow control and excellent thermal efficiency.

As a further upgrade to our customers’ existing equipment, QED Wire Lines’ patented HighTurbulence® Pickling System will allow for rapid scale removal using technology that optimizes fluid flow.

An interesting feature on this project was the addition of a motorized threading system which will enable the customer to easily thread new wires into the production line in a quick and efficient manner. This system was designed to save time and ensure the safety of equipment operators by cutting down on repetitive tasks and motion.

The customer was particularly pleased with the timely equipment delivery and very rapid start-up, as they were limited by a very narrow shut down window. The success of this start up is due largely to the significant experience and expertise of our on-site technicians as well as the knowledge and great enthusiasm of QED most recent team member.
