Automatic Coating Weight Control

QED Wire Lines Inc is pleased to offer the steel wire industry a leading edge galvanizing technology: The Automatic Coating Weight Control System. This proven system accurately and consistently applies metallic coatings to multiple wires in high speed process lines. Using an innovative sensor, computer interface and flow control valves with precision nitrogen wiping nozzles, the system promises improved quality, higher production and significant savings on zinc, aluminium or Galfan®.

Our advanced sensors measure the electromagnetic flux distortions caused by changes in the coating thickness with a special frequency-optimized algorithm. The resulting signals are feed into the coating weight computer where comparisons are made to the set-point input from the operator station. Output signals from the computer are sent to a bank of valves that proportionally control the nitrogen flows. The nitrogen exits the nozzles at high velocity, dynamically wiping the coating to the desired thickness. This is a true fully automatic, closed loop system, offering accurate zinc coating weight control.
