A new chapter in Engitec's 30-year partnership

A new chapter in Engitec's 30-year partnership

During the last quarter of 2024, the management teams of RASASS-TASNEE and Engitec met to finalize the deal for the supply of a new, state-of-the-art Engitec CX® Breaker, designed to process 15.0tph of spent lead-acid batteries.

The long-term collaboration between RASASS and Engitec

The collaboration between RASASS and Engitec dates back over three decades, starting in 1994 when Engitec supplied a CX® Plant to NATIONAL LEAD SMELTING (now RASASS) capable of processing 10.0tph of spent batteries.

The plant has been operational for nearly 30 years, helping solidify RASASS’s position as a market leader. Over these years, the CX® Plant has supported RASASS through the global expansion period (2000-2019) and the "Next Normal" transition after the COVID-19 emergency, marked by the green shift. Over the past 3 decades, the 10tph CX® breaker has processed approximately 1,800,000 tons of spent lead-acid batteries, reaching the end of its economic life.

Engitec CX® Plant: advanced characteristics

The new 15.0tph Engitec CX® Plant incorporates the latest innovations, made possible by significant investments in research and development. This advanced plant can process 100% AGM batteries, ensuring high-quality separation thanks to high-performance rotary screens. The lead paste desulphurization process and also sodium sulfate dry salt production units eliminate liquid waste. At the same time, the plant’s high level of automation improves safety and minimizes the man-hours required for safe, repeatable operations.

The new plant is set for shipment in the first quarter of 2026 and is expected to begin operation shortly thereafter. Once the new CX® Plant is operational, the existing line will be decommissioned. Plus, Engitec will offer its client a Site Advisory Service to assist in stabilization production after the new plant passes the PG Test.

The Engitec team is proud of this new collaboration with RASASS, 30 years after the first contract. The continued trust and preference of such a competent and internationally recognized company is a testament to Engitec's commitment to serving its clients.
