Engitec Technologies celebrates its 25th anniversary in the non-ferrous metal recovery sector

Engitec Technologies S.p.A. has celebrated its 25th anniversary. Founded in 1998 from the take-over of Engitec Impianti S.p.A. - which had been operating in the same sector since 1978 - the company is located just a few kilometers north of Milan.
If we were to travel back 25 years in time, we would find the world was a much different place: China had not yet joined the WTO, the Euro currency did not exist, the concept of a "global world" was more visionary than a reality, and above all, the circular economy was not a prominent topic political discussions or at international symposiums.
In an apparently unprepared context for metallurgical waste valorization, Engitec made significant efforts to develop technologies for the crushing of exhaust batteries Pb/Acid and recovering of lead and others, and hydrometallurgical processes for the treatment and recover of wastes of non-ferrous metals. Through extensive research and development, Engitec patented several industrial techniques, revolutionizing the sustainable recycling of waste from the metallurgical and steel industry and facilitating the recovery of valuable components.
Through constant collaboration with the Engitec Research Center, the company has achieved a leading position in technology and design for large-scale Pb/acid battery recycling plants, marketed under the name Engitec CX®. These advanced lines guarantee the full recovery of lead and other valuable components from batteries.
Engitec CX® plants installed on 5 continents recover approximately 35% of the world's secondary lead. Building on the extensive and solid experience gained in the lead battery industry, Engitec is committed to the research and development of technology for the full recycling of lithium batteries. In collaboration with industry partners and with sponsorship from the European Commission, this project aims to achieve a closed life cycle for these batteries by recovering all valuable and polluting components in reusable forms.
Despite the prevailing trend of European companies outsourcing design and production to low-cost countries, Engitec prioritizes the consolidation of a customer-oriented corporate culture and investments in human resources to uphold quality and innovation. Made in Italy remains pivotal to the shareholders' strategy, with the Morandi family (80%) and three founding partners (20%) driving the company's vision. Engitec embodies this vision by constructing the main machines for its plants in the company's workshops located in Italy.
Engitec's motto, "We make simple the metal complexity", perfectly encapsulates its commitment to sustainability and circularity, as the company strives to streamline and simplify the intricate world of metal processing.
