MetalsReborn by Engitec Technologies to give a second life to dismissed Italcementi industrial site

Leading the way in circular economy

MetalsReborn, part of the Engitec Group, stands as a prominent player in zinc and iron alloy production from steel mill by-products. Headquartered in Milan, the company operates both in Italy and internationally.

Recently, its President, Mr. Oliviero Lanzani, unveiled an ambitious reconversion project for the Italcementi area in Vibo Marina (Calabria, Italy), dormant for the past decade. The project aims to transform the site into a cutting-edge facility for producing zinc, iron, and other raw materials recovered from industrial waste generated by the steel industry.

The production process will leverage state-of-the-art, eco-friendly technologies known as EZINEX® (Engitec Zinc Extraction), for which MetalsReborn possesses patents and exclusive expertise. The anticipated investment for this groundbreaking initiative is approximately 70 million euros, facilitating the reclamation of a significant portion of the former cement factory site.

The transformation of the former Italcementi site is a significant opportunity for the town in which it is located and the entire Calabria region, with the new plant expected to generate approximately 100 direct jobs and deliver substantial economic and employment advantages to the area.

The project's details, industrial plan, and the expected employment impact were thoroughly presented during the press conference at the Confindustria Vibo Valentia headquarters on November 15. The event saw the participation of Rocco Colacchio (President of Confindustria Vibo), Oliviero Lanzani (President of MetalsReborn), Francesco Manduca (Legal Advisor of the project), and Gaetano De Pasquale (Economic Advisor).
