Brio and the wire industry: a retrospective on 2019
Brio Srl, boasting more than 20 years of expertise in steel, alloys, and their derivatives, represents the largest European steel wire manufacturers on the global market. We met with Fabrizio Briani, Export Sales, to feel the pulse of a sector that has been in deep water this year, according to many.
What are Brio’s main strengths?
As sales agents, having a reliable list of suppliers with clear development policies is mandatory. It is crucial to be able to support demand, also in terms of responding to the growing need for technological innovation of the offered products.
The first step is to find the best possible suppliers: this will inevitably reflect in top-of-the-line offer with regard to product range, quality, and service. We are still developing this side for specific products, however we can say that we have a really positive outlook for the near future, also thanks to the latest commercial agreements carried out.
What is the trend of steel wire market?
Unfortunately, 2019 suffered from a negative trend in terms of volumes. This slowdown, mainly caused by the automotive sector, has gradually affected other different industries as well.
Did you carry out any interesting projects during this 2019?
Definitely. The renewed and expanded product range, together with the increasingly comprehensive support of our suppliers, has allowed us to push ourselves into very exclusive market niches, thus guaranteeing additional volumes with optimistic prospects in terms of demand stability.
As far as foreign markets are concerned, what are you aiming for by 2020? What is your biggest area of influence?
Our main goal is to expand towards non-EU markets without neglecting Italy and Europe, which remain major reference points.
In 2018 you took part in the wire Düsseldorf trade fair. Will you participate in the next edition, too? How important is this event for you?
Year after year wire Düsseldorf has proved to be the reference fair for the wire industry. It is important to be there because very special meetings are held and unique opportunities are seized. Not to mention the fact that it is also an opportunity to "shake hands" with many loyal customers and stay up to date about the latest news in terms of technologies for wire processing.
Nowadays, the assistance plays a fundamental role together with the quality of the product. What do you think of this statement?
We can only agree: Brio mainly sells its technical and commercial expertise, an internationally renowned know-how. As proof, our suppliers often entrust us with large customers and important names in the sector.
