Demasteel - 2019, it’s time to sum up

Demasteel is a young Italian company specializing in the supply of stainless steel wire, wire rod, and bars for spring, fasteners, and conveyor belt industries. We had the pleasure to exchange some words with Giuseppe De Nittis, Demasteel CEO, who told us about how the company has been able to face the general climate of uncertainty that has been framing this year.

It has been a difficult year for the steel industry for many reasons, such as the transition to new propulsion technologies. How did you react?
We reacted by diversifying and expanding our product range and investing in other sectors with different types of drawn products.
The quota allocation for imports of stainless steel wire rod into Europe caused our turnover to fall by 30 to 40% in 2019. Thanks to the sales mix of drawn products, however, we achieved similar profits to 2018.

How do you think the situation will evolve in 2020?
We will try to renew our product portfolio once again by implementing other steel solutions, but we can't reveal anything yet. What we can say, though, is that there will be a lot of news in 2020.

You have been a partner of Lubra Spa since 2017, adding lubricants to your product range. How is this partnership developing?
Thanks to the expertise of Lubra we can provide our customers with industrial lubricants for every need in any production process, from deformation to surface treatments. We have been representing this company for some time now, but 2019 marked a major milestone: in particular, we recorded a +17% compared to 2018, despite the global situation.
