Stainless steel wire mesh by Erre Inox - Raajratna: focus on the food industry
from the fences of our homes to car filters. But what exactly is wire mesh and how is it used? In this article, Erre Inox, as a retailer of the Raajratna Group and Rainox Wire Mesh Pvt. Ltd., presents its wide range of top-quality stainless steel wire mesh in more detail, with a particular focus on food industry applications.
Stainless steel woven wire mesh: main applications
Wire mesh is used in an infinite number of fields, for example, it is found in structural applications, such as the construction of bridges, buildings, and machinery: by reinforcing concrete and other building materials, it adds stability to structures and makes them less subject to cracks and damage. It is commonly used for security, to create fences for animals, gardens, windows, and area demarcation, but also as a support for clay and rocky walls as a rockfall net. It is also used to filter liquids and gasses, finding applications in heating and cooling systems, air and water filters, etc.
In the food industry, it is used to make grills, baskets, and trays, but also for filtering milk, oil, and all commercial beverages. Also in the food industry, wire mesh is used in molding applications for the production of tableware and biodegradable packaging made of bagasse (the fibrous part that remains from the pressing of sugarcane).
The main types of woven wire mesh by Erre Inox - Raajratna
Erre Inox mainly supplies 4 types of woven stainless steel mesh, in all grades and alloys:
- Plain weave stainless steel mesh
Plain weave or square weave wire mesh is the simplest weaving method. In this technique, each weft wire (horizontal) passes over one warp wire (vertical) and then under the next, creating a uniform grid pattern. The main applications are in the production of baskets and fences.
- Dutch weave stainless steel mesh
Dutch weave is manufactured in a plain weave pattern, whereby the warp wires are interwoven with a wider pitch than the weft wires. Suitable for the production of centrifugal separators and dewatering filters for the petrochemical, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and wastewater treatment industries.
- Twilled weave stainless steel mesh
In twilled weaves, each weft wire passes over two or more consecutive warp wires and then under one or more consecutive warp wires, creating a diagonal rib effect. Being very strong, it is particularly suitable for supporting heavy loads and applications in the mining, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
- Twilled Dutch weave stainless steel mesh
The twilled Dutch weave combines the twilled weave with the distinctive structure of the Dutch weave. Due to the high density of the meshes, it is particularly suitable for filter and separator production.
Wire mesh in the food industry: The Erre Inox - Rainox range
Founded in 2019 in India, Rainox Wire Mesh Pvt. Ltd has quickly developed to become one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of woven wire mesh. In particular, Rainox specializes in Hyflex & Twill wire mesh for the production of tableware and biodegradable bagasse packaging.
How does the wire mesh molding process work?
Wire mesh molding is a sustainable forming process that uses a vacuum chamber to form the fibrous pulp of sugarcane. The fibrous pulp is then sprayed from below towards the mold. The vacuum draws the fibrous pulp, causing it to adhere firmly to the mesh and fill all the spaces and gaps. When the airflow through the mesh is sufficiently blocked, the excess pulp falls back into the recovery tank to be recycled. The mesh mold advances to the drying process. Once dry, the fibrous layer is separated from the mesh mold and then shaped for its final destination, such as egg cartons, cups and bowls for food services, and takeaway food containers. These containers are extremely resistant to high temperatures, flexible, and - most importantly - biodegradable.
What types of wire mesh for biodegradable packaging does Erre Inox - Rainox offer?
The range of wire mesh for biodegradable packaging available at Erre Inox currently includes 2 different types: 5 heddle wire mesh, with a mesh aperture of 0.440 mm and diameters between 0.19 and 0.22 mm; twill weave mesh, characterized by a mesh opening between 0.41 and 0.44 mm and wire diameters ranging from 0.19 to 0.22 mm. The choice of wire mesh type depends on numerous factors, including mesh size, wire material, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with the material of use.
