Giuseppe & F.lli Bonaiti Srl, history and evolution of the Italian wire drawing industry

Giuseppe & F.lli Bonaiti Srl, history and evolution of the Italian wire drawing industry

In the early 1800s, a man by the name of Giuseppe Bonaiti started a small workshop in Lecco, a well-known metalworking district in Northern Italy, where a small stream powered up the first rudimentary wire drawing mills.

About 100 years later, in 1938
, Giuseppe & F.lli Bonaiti Srl was formally established as a joint-stock company. Initially specializing in the drawing of steel wire, the company adapted its product range over the years to meet the needs of the various historical moments. At first, they added small metal parts for civil and military use. They later implemented door locks, which had become very popular during the post-war reconstruction period. The following step was to verticalize the production process, internalizing the manufacture of cold-rolled steel strip. At last, they introduced nautical and mountaineering carabiners.

Nowadays, Giuseppe & F.lli Bonaiti Srl is a successful wire drawing company both in Italy and abroad, focused on the production of wire and wire rod in different types of steel and suitable for many fields of application. State-of-the-art drawing lines and first-class heat treatment plants guarantee high-quality products with excellent cold-forming properties.

Expertise, quality materials, product customization, and several international certifications achieved over the years allow the company to sell its wires in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Turkey, and other European countries.

A 360° assistance and consulting service completes the picture: Giuseppe & F.lli Bonaiti can supply highly customized products to the most demanding clientele, meeting the highest expectations and needs.
