AAC and ACSR aluminum conductors

Nirmal Wires Pvt Ltd offers a diverse range of aluminum conductors, essential components for overhead line conductors used in electricity transmission. These aluminum conductors come in various types, including AAC (All Aluminum Conductor), and ACSR (Aluminum Conductors Steel Reinforced), designed to cater to specific needs.

All aluminum conductors (AAC)

These conductors, also known as aluminum stranded conductors, are manufactured from EC grade aluminum, with a minimum aluminum content of 99.95%, ensuring a minimum conductivity of 61%. AAC conductors are particularly suitable for regions with short spacing between supports, as its homogenous construction grants high corrosion resistance, making it ideal for coastal areas.

AAC boasts the highest conductivity-to-weight ratio among overhead conductors, granting efficient electricity transmission. Additionally, AAC's lower weight compared to copper makes it transportation and erection-friendly despite a higher cross-sectional area. With production facilities capable of manufacturing aluminum strands up to 61 strands, and individual wire diameters ranging from 1.60 mm to 8.00 mm, the company ensures versatility and customized solutions. Nirmal adheres to international standards, ensuring the highest quality of its all aluminum conductor (AAC):

- IS 398 Part I
- BS 215 Part I
- DIN 48201-5
- IEC 207
- ASTM B231

Aluminum Conductors Steel Reinforced (ACSR)

Nirmal's ACSR products merge EC-grade aluminum and galvanized steel wires (single or seven strands) with zinc coating for corrosion resistance. ACSR's steel-aluminum ratio suits mechanical strength and current capacity. Used in overhead power lines, ACSR boasts an aluminum outer layer and a steel inner layer for durability. Galvanization extends its life, especially in harsh conditions. ACSR offers cost-effective advantages like longer spans, reduced sag, and lower costs due to the high mechanical strength-to-weight ratio. Its larger diameter curbs corona losses, saving in high-voltage cables. ACSR core wires and strands suit extended spans, merging steel's strength with aluminum's conductivity.
