How has steel demand evolved over the past year? 

Over the past year, we have seen an increase in steel demand, including stainless and other types such as high-carbon and brass-coated steel. Additionally, demand for steel used in brooms and brushes has also grown as Covid-era stockpiles are being depleted.

In this hectic period, what are the main challenges you are facing in the current steel market? 

As always, price instability remains a key challenge, driven more by import costs than raw material prices. For stainless steel, which we regularly import in full containers from China and India, shipping rates remain high.

How are you navigating commercial policies and international regulations?

From the beginning, we have stayed informed and worked closely with our suppliers. We are fully compliant with the CBAM regulation, ensuring adherence to required standards through our commercial partners.

Let’s talk about competition: how are you tackling it nationally and internationally? Are you adopting strategies to maintain your market position?

We are addressing competition by focusing on high-quality materials and excellent customer service. Our strength is maintaining stock for prompt delivery, even in small quantities, despite long import transit times. For larger customers, we manage customs clearance and direct delivery of full containers from the source.

What are your predictions for the steel market in the coming months? 

While it's hard to predict, there are signs of recovery in the second half of 2024. However, the market remains affected by global economic risks and uncertainties.
