Metallurgica Locatelli, a renowned Italian wire rod manufacturer, proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023. At expometals, we are delighted to trace the key milestones of this remarkable journey.

Founded in 1923 by Fortunato Locatelli, the company has deep roots in Lecco, a historical wire drawing district in Northern Italy. Initially known as Locatelli Fortunato e Figli, the company has been handed down through generations, showcasing the family's dedication and commitment.

Under the leadership of Galdino, Fortunato's successor, and with the support of his brother Amleto, Metallurgica Locatelli embarked on an extraordinary trajectory of growth. In the 1960s, the company expanded its product range by introducing the first annealing furnace.

Innovation has been at the core of Metallurgica Locatelli's strategy, as it introduced a pickling plant in the 1960s and 1970s to further enhance its offerings. In 1973, the company opened a new operational headquarters in Calolziocorte (LC) and transformed into a joint-stock company under the guidance of Gilberto, Galdino's son.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the company consolidated its leadership position under the guidance of heirs Giovanni, Paolo, and Marco. Their forward-thinking vision contributed to the consistent growth of Metallurgica Locatelli's reputation as a prominent player in the industry. The company continued to invest in modernization, renewing the pickling plant in the 2000s and pioneering the use of new elements such as polymers.



In recent years, Metallurgica Locatelli inaugurated a new annealing furnace, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to innovation and production excellence.
